What's inside the pages?

This book of youth hockey fiction travels the full circle of dreams, success, and the many time disappointments a youth hockey player experiences from first learning to skate on to team play.  It is meant to enjoyed by players and parents alike.  While some youth hockey stories and verses in this book are presented with a touch of humor, the underlying current flows with the positive attitude and determination needed in youth hocky players to get in the game and stay there.

Youth hockey has it's moments and they are not all at game time in the stands.  There it would appear winning the game is all.  The number of skills a youth hockey player needs to master, in order to entertain his or her parents on  the ice, is a tall order only achieved over numerous hard work practices.  The scoreboard does not tell it all.  The real win for a youth hockey player is the development of work ethic, and the prize of personal pride found when he or she does their best.

For the young player important developmental moments happen both in the locker room and on the rink. They experience a special freedom found on the ice, where as an individual youth hockey player they can explore split second decision making and then learn to accept the consequences.  Talent in the end all takes a back seat to determination, and consistent self discipline.  A player can hold a high ideal, and with hard hockey work ethic it can be achieved.

Admiration of NHL hockey players, dreaming of becoming an adult top level player, and winning the Stanley Cup are a common thread among youth hockey players.  No book for youth hockey reading would be complete without some NHL hockey players in action.  The stories featuring the goalie king include the 2007 NHL Buffalo Sabres hockey team and the king's team who bear the names of the 2007 NHL Pittsburgh Penguins hockey team. Several hockey legends include a character called the hockey goalie king of Antarctica,  who discovers the power to summon NHL hockey players, put Martin Biron #43 in net against him, and to bring the NHL Buffalo Sabres to his slumber zone for a challenge game. Another legend brings the hockey goalie king's penguins to Buffalo as the hockey goalie king enlists the training help of goalie Martin Biron #43, some of the 2007 NHL Buffalo Sabres, and Greg Gardner coach at Niagara University, who is a more than accomplished hockey goalie also. The 2007 Niagara University Purple Eagles of college hockey fame also help train the king's feisty team of Antarctic penguins.
The third Buffalo legend revolves around a fast paced street hockey tournament to win a paper replica of the Stanley Cup.

Hockey keeps schedules busy and on the go. These stories are great reads on the way to a travel game, to and from practice or in the warm room.   The book is full of positive "can do" reinforcement for youth hockey players. The book is written in rhyming narrative verse which lends itself to the rhythm of the game of hockey. The book "Hockey Legend Myth & Verse" is a fun read for a player. Pages number 234 and are written to reflect hockey determination with a touch of humor.
The vast majority of the book consists of short reading of one, two or three pages which makes it easy for the reader to skate in and out of the book.
