A Favorite Sport In Western New York

The popularity of youth hockey continues to grow in Western New York.  Currently we have exceeded 35,000 players.  Hockey is one of the most challenging sports to learn because of the multiple skill set that must be mastered.  When a youth achieves the skills needed to play ice hockey, it generates internal pride and a great sense of accomplishment.

While watching the sport, it is easy to forget the player's are even on skates.  Their motions are smooth and second nature.  Watching a well executed play on the ice, makes one realize how age unrestrictive the game really is.  Buffalo hockey player's ages vary from a three year old beginning to learn, to a seventy five year old still hungry for ice time.  Here in Buffalo, once hockey, always hockey be it player or fan.

New Logo vs. Old Logo

The change of the Buffalo Logo still does not seem to set well with many fans. While it obviously was an attempt to return to the colors of yesteryear Sabres teams, many fans notice it has less visual impact on the ice.  The prior buffalo showed a spirit of dominance and the contrast of color had more impact. A logo projects attitude therefore many fans remain fast to the black and red.  Logo change or not we expect our team to measure up.  Did the designer forget dominance and impact is what team hockey is all about? Gone also are the steaming breath from the nostrels, snorting buffalo commercials we loved so well. They may well have tried to fix what was not broken.
